Art I

Art I provides opportunities for students to learn and apply the principles and elements of Design, color theory, and visual organization through experimentation with a range of 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional techniques. This course is offered at the introductory level intended to improve current skills and their ability to think and see creatively. Emphasis is placed on close observation, conceptual mapping, personal expression, how to use materials, and studio care. Students will learn to focus on empathy in order to develop creative visual ideas of their own and gain an understanding of the work of historical and contemporary artists.
