Eastern Rubric

The School District of Springfield Township is proud to be a sending school for the Eastern Center for Arts and Technology.  Eastern provides students the opportunity to reinforce their career choice, get ready for employment and get a head start in collegiate studies in their chosen field.  Currently, Eastern offers students the opportunity to participate in one of sixteen occupational and technical pathways.  Students have the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning to develop career skills for the 21st century.

Eastern programs are highly competitive and there are limited spots available in each program for Springfield Township students.  In order to provide an equitable opportunity for all students, the selection committee utilizes a rubric to determine students rankings for admission to chosen Eastern programs.  The district is committed to transparency in our selection process.  The full rubric is available for parents to review.  In addition, key highlights from the rubric are contained in the graphic below.

Following the Eastern selection process, the high school administrative team will be happy to meet with parents to discuss their child's rubric.  Due to student privacy, administrators are not able to discuss other students and how they scored on the rubric.

If your child does not get into Eastern, the high school offers many other exciting career pathway opportunities, including opportunities to work during the school day for credit.  Students should can meet with their counselor to create a course selection plan that will help meet their post-secondary goals.
