Ms. Cathleen Dougherty

Hello! I’m Cathleen Dougherty. For over twenty years, I’ve dedicated my career to counseling students in both elementary and intermediate schools. Throughout this time, I’ve had the privilege of engaging with students through classroom lessons, support groups, individual counseling, coaching, and the teaching and supervision of peer mediators and leaders.

I began my career in the picturesque setting of southern California, where I spent ten years, working with intermediate students. When I decided to return to my roots, I was thrilled to join the Springfield Township School District as a counselor.

For over a decade, I've had the privilege of serving as a school counselor at Enfield and then Erdenheim, creating lasting memories with amazing children and outstanding staff. When the opportunity came to transition to middle school, I eagerly embraced it, as my true passion lies in working with middle school students. Their unique challenges motivate me to continually apply my counseling skills and life experiences.

My greatest joy is my daughter, Ryleigh, who inspires me to live life to the fullest and motivates me daily to be the best mother, counselor, friend, family member, and leader I can be. Adding to that joy is my dog, Bentley, whose playful spirit brings extra happiness and balance to my life. I also find pleasure in traveling, photography, coaching, music, nature, and spending time laughing with family and friends.

My goal for my students is to guide them in embracing their uniqueness, building self-confidence, finding their voice, becoming problem solvers, developing their leadership potential, and discovering the importance of having a sense of humor.

One wish I have for parents is to recognize the crucial role they play during the middle school years. This period is a time of significant growth and change, making your support and guidance more important than ever. Your involvement can make a lasting impact on your child's development, helping them navigate these formative years with confidence and resilience.
