Dr. Michelle Lutz
Director of Support Services
Dr. Lutz received her Bachelor’s Degree in political science from Albright College and began her teaching career in 2004 in the School District of Philadelphia. During her time in Philadelphia, Dr. Lutz taught self-contained learning, emotional, and autistic support classrooms in grades K through12, provided inclusion support for students with autism and life skills, co-taught literacy and math at the middle school level, and served as a teacher leader in the area of special education. In 2006, Dr. Lutz earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Albright College. During this time, Dr. Lutz furthered her experiences by completing the National Board for Teaching Certification process and her administrative coursework and certification at Edinboro University.
As an administrator, Dr. Lutz has carried her passion for working with all students into her work. As a principal in the School District of Philadelphia, Dr. Lutz led a K-5 school to increased student achievement and decreased disciplinary referrals as a result of a school-wide plan that focused on providing a literary intervention period for all students, recognition for school attendance, and the use of suspension alternatives. Dr. Lutz joined the Upper Moreland Township School District in 2015 as the Supervisor of Special Education and Student Services. During her time in the district, Dr. Lutz earned her Doctoral Degree in Education Administration from Gwynedd Mercy University and her Superintendent Letter of Eligibility.
As the Director of Support Services, Dr. Lutz will supervise Federal Programs, our district wide Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and Student Safety/Crisis Response. She will serve as our Homeless/Foster Liaison, oversee our district wide Student Assistance Program, and supervise Student Registration and Residency. Finally, she will support the district's work in Equitable Practices by facilitating and communicating progress on our Equity Action Plan. Dr. Lutz will join SDST on April 18, 2022.
