Mrs. Akyrah Hicks

My name is  Akyrah Hicks and I am excited to be teaching here at Erdenheim, where I started in 2024. I graduated from West Chester University with my Bachelor of Science with a minor in Elementary Education. After a few years working with the School District Of Philadelphia as a classroom assistant I decided to further my education, I then graduated from  Lincoln University with my Master of Education. I've spent a lot of time in the classroom and working with children in different capacities.I've had the opportunity to plan and lead camps, after school programs and school events, I find joy in seeing children happy. This will be my 6th year as an educator and I absolutely love it. In my six years as an educator I’ve taught in an urban area, and have had a chance to be a mentor teacher. I find teaching to be very rewarding and fulfilling. My goal as an educator is not only to teach but to create meaningful relationships, and a warm and safe classroom environment. These things will help create lifelong learners. I love when students can say that they've had a joyful, exciting, and positive school year filled with lots of learning. In my spare time I love cooking, baking, traveling,shopping, and spending time with my friends, family and my dog Ori. Oh yeah and let’s not forget I am definitely an Eagles fan.
