Occupational Therapy
Hello and Welcome to Occupational Therapy!
I am very excited to be working with your student at Enfield Elementary School. I have been an Occupational Therapist since 1999 and I have worked in the field of Developmental Pediatrics since graduating from college. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Mount Saint Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland in 1994 and a Master of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy from Misericordia University in Dallas, Pennsylvania in 1999. Since then, I have worked as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist in a variety of settings such as a center-based preschool for children with special needs, home care, early intervention, school-based services, and outpatient therapy.
I believe that at every child, no matter their disability or delay, is capable of leaving Occupational Therapy stronger and more independent than they arrived. In order to help your child reach this goal, we need to work together as a team. Weekly therapy sessions are only part of the equation. When a child practices at home and in their classroom on a daily basis, they tend to make progress more quickly. When a child knows that they have persevered through a challenging task, they become more self-assured and feel confident about using their new skills. Luckily, we have a great team of teachers and support staff here at Enfield who work hard to carry over your child’s new skills into the classroom setting and consult with me on a regular basis regarding their students’ progress and needs.
Please assist me in creating good work habits with your child by encouraging your child to practice at home, work hard, and never give up!
